Q@TN – Quantum Science and Technology in Trento is a joint laboratory of the University of Trento, Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the National Research Council (CNR). This website is operated by the University of Trento, which acts as Data Controller for the processing described below.

Purposes of the processing and legal basis
Personal data are processed in the performance of the public interest tasks of teaching, scientific research and administration entrusted to the University of Trento, pursuant to Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR, and in particular in order to:
- provide, operate and improve this website and the information published on it;
- communicate the scientific, educational and dissemination activities of the Q@TN laboratory;
- reply to requests for information sent to the contact addresses published on this website;
- ensure the security, integrity and correct functioning of the website.

Browsing data
The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. This category includes IP addresses or domain names of the devices used by visitors, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the server response, and other parameters relating to the operating system and computing environment of the visitor.
These data are used only to obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the website and to check its correct functioning. They could be used to establish liability in the event of computer crimes committed against the website or through it.
Data provided voluntarily by the user
Sending messages to the email addresses published on this website entails the subsequent acquisition of the sender address, necessary to reply, as well as of any other personal data included in the message. Such data are processed only for the purpose of handling the request.
Comments
Where the comment function is enabled on posts, the content of the comment together with the name, email address, website and IP address of the author and the browser user agent string are stored. This information is used solely to publish and moderate the comment and to detect unsolicited content.
Cookies
This website uses only technical and functional cookies, which do not require prior consent, and does not use profiling or advertising cookies. It does not use analytics, advertising or social network tracking tools. Detailed information is available in the Cookie Policy.
Nature of the provision of data
The provision of browsing data is necessary, since it results from the technical operation of Internet communication protocols. The provision of data through email or web forms is voluntary; however, failure to provide the data requested makes it impossible to reply to the request.
Methods of processing
Data are processed by electronic means, by personnel authorised and instructed by the Data Controller, adopting technical and organisational security measures appropriate to the risk, in accordance with Article 32 of the GDPR. The website is hosted on infrastructure connected to the Italian research and education network (Consortium GARR).
No processing operations carried out through this website involve automated decision-making or profiling of the data subject pursuant to Article 22 of the GDPR.
Categories of recipients and transfers outside the European Union
Personal data are processed by personnel authorised to pursue the purposes indicated above. They may also be disclosed to third parties where required by a legal obligation and/or by an order of the judicial authority. No personal data collected through this website are disseminated.
Some technical resources of the website (web fonts and libraries distributed through content delivery networks) are retrieved from external providers; this entails the communication of the visitor IP address to those providers, as described in the cookie policy.
Retention period
Browsing data contained in server logs are retained for the period necessary to achieve the purposes described above and in any case for a maximum of six months, except for any further retention required in relation to the investigation of criminal offences by the competent authorities. Email correspondence is retained for the time necessary to handle the request and to comply with document retention obligations applicable to the University. Comments and related data are retained until they are removed.
Rights of the data subject
At any time data subjects may exercise, in relation to the Data Controller, the rights granted by Articles 15 et seq. of the GDPR, namely:
- access to their personal data and to the further information referred to in Article 15 of the GDPR;
- rectification of inaccurate personal data and completion of incomplete data;
- erasure of personal data, where one of the grounds set out in Article 17 of the GDPR applies;
- restriction of processing, in the cases provided for by Article 18 of the GDPR;
- objection to processing, pursuant to Article 21 of the GDPR;
- data portability, in the cases provided for by Article 20 of the GDPR.
Requests may be submitted without particular formalities to ateneo@unitn.it or, by certified email, to ateneo@pec.unitn.it, and may also be addressed to the Data Protection Officer at rpd@unitn.it. The University of Trento makes available a dedicated form for the exercise of these rights on its institutional privacy pages.
Data subjects who consider that the processing of their personal data infringes the GDPR have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it) or to seek a judicial remedy before the competent court.
