Riccardo Franchi awarded SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship

Congratulations to Riccardo Franchi for winning a 2021 Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, for his potential contributions to the field of optics, photonics or related field.

Riccardo Franchi is a PhD student in the Nanoscience Laboratory at the University of Trento and participates in the Transdisciplinary PhD program of Q@TN. His research interests include the study of integrated structures for the Electric Field Induced Second Order Nonlinearities (EFISON) in silicon, the Lorentz reciprocity breaking and the topological behavior of matrices of non-Hermitian microresonators. Riccardo’s project is focused on the generation of mid-infrared entangled photons using the EFI-SPDC in silicon waveguide with lateral p-i-n junctions. He currently serves as the Vice President of the SPIE Student Chapter at the University of Trento.
